Hamish Centennial Kilt Installment #3

Hi all,

I haven't had Internet for the past week or so, but I've been working on Hamish's kilt. Here's an update with a few pics:

We took the ferry from Thorlakshofn in South Iceland to the town of Vestmannaeyjar on the island of Heimaey. The ferry trip lasts four hours, so I got quite a lot done on the kilt despite a stretch of really rough seas. In this first pic, I'm cutting out the pleats while we're still at the dock before we set sail.

And, of course, Hamish's kilt got my standard American flag stabilizer:

Shortly after the photo above, I had to take a break, because we were crashing up and down over big seas, and I had to hang onto the window frame with both hands to keep from sliding around!

This kilt will definitely come with one of the best stories! I have images of you sliding off whatever you were sitting on, in rough seas, holding onto the kilt. So, are you stitiches still invisible with all of this commotion?

You'd have to run me off with a flyswatter if I were there with you, Barb, because I'd be hovering around watching your every move. That's beautiful piece of art you're making.
What all is left? Just the buckles, from what little bit I know.

What a nice place to sit and sew. The kilt is indeed a nice work of art.

The only discouraging thing is the graffiti on the wall behind you. It is bad here, and I wish it had not spread to there.

This could be the start of a whole new thread, but I found myself wondering how many kilts out there have great stories behind them like this one?

Barb, these threads are lovely. It's fascinating to see the kilt come together and Hamish, you are ever so lucky. I am quite envious.

An amazing experience to see how much work goes into making the perfect kilt. I marvel at your skill to not only sew such a complex thing but to do it while at sea!

What a delightful play by play of the Hamish 100! Now for an encore, lets get Barb book on a flight to the space station. I'd love to see her sew a kilt in zero gravity!
