Introducing Highland Leather Works

Hello All at X-Marks The Scot! I would like to introduce you all to Highland Leather Works of Glen Spey, NY. My name is Donald Smith, and I founded Highland Leather Works in the early spring of 1996 when I started making sporrans for friends(who encouraged me to do so), and this led to other items which led to other items, greatly expanding the range of products now offered by HLW. I've attended many festivals in the east such as Quechee VT(every year since 1996), the now defunct Fredricksburg Va. games, Ithaca NY Scottish Fest, the now defunct Garden State Scottish fest at the Arts Center, Waverly Rhode Island, and some others over the years. I've done a lot of wholesale work, mostly in the early days, for dealers in NY, NJ, Pa., and Vt..

The sporrans I make are traditional type sporrans, various pouch and Rob Roy types, but my main claim to fame(fame?) is the full mask animal head sporrans that I make(that is what brought me into leather work-my previous taxidermy experience) Our sporrans can be found all over the English/Gaelic speaking world, and have been sold to people in the US, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, and Canada, and I've never had a complaint in almost 24 years!
