    Kilts and Academic Regalia

A while ago, there was a thread on wearing kilts with academic regalia. I said I would post a pic next time I wore mine. Here it is. The regalia is the University Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Ph.D. The style is a Cambridge open doctor's dress gown with white and scarlet facing. The hat is a pileus quadratus (the forerunner of the mortar board).

I wear this regalia for convocations and graduations at the State University of New York, College at Cortland.

Hey, that looks good. I'm working on my PhD now, and you can bet I'll be kilted the day I finally get to take that walk! What do you teach?

I loved wearing my Masters gown.

I loved wearing my Masters gown, especially with those crazy sleeves.

I think I will start work on my Ph.D. once I retire from the Army, for now I am just working on my Masonic degrees. My Masters and BS are in criminal justice, not sure what area I should concentrate on for my doctoral work.

Well done Andy - last year at graduation I wore my Isle of Skye with my masters gown and a black Glengarry. It was a real crowd pleaser.
