    A couple of comments

OK, I've figured out the system and have come up with some pretty good prices for a knock about kilt, but I get to the method of payment page and American Express IS NOT an option.

Not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad one since Amex is known to not approve charges. I've had to use other means to pay which were not as efficient as Amex.

On the other hand, Amex is my only credit card. This means I am definitely shut out of buying from Scotweb.

Another comment, I would like the modern style kilt jacket (i.e., something that looks more like a sport coat), but they aren't available. I don't feel like going to Kinloch-Anderson, especially since I don't like their colours. The Tartan Museum Gift Shop carries them, but it takes forever to receive one.

Most banks here in the US offer a debit card (Master Card or Visa) with their checking accounts and it comes in quite handy. I use my debit card just like a credit card and it works on almost all websites. Do banks in your area have the same type of card offer? If so, it may be worth looking into as it might work much better than Amex cards.

    Just a thought.

Well, from what I have found American Express is not so widely accepted in Scotland outside of restaurants. They are a pain to deal with for merchants and have high fees.

On the second point - good quality is not going to be instant gratification.

Yes, "modern" kilt jackets are available from a few places. You might want to try Steve Ashton at Freedom Kilts.

He has had a modern Kilt jacket in development for some time that I do believe is now available for order. I'd try calling the shop.

    Good Luck.

    Good Luck.
Absolutely correct, Dee. The same applies across the entire UK as far as I know. I have an Amex Card (fortunately not my only Card) but am unable to use it in possibly 7 out of every 10 retailers. Some very large stores accept them and some restaurants, but by no means all of them. It is a combination of the high charges that Amex take from the merchants together with the system they operate that is the problem. 'MasterCard' and 'Visa' are the 'big Credit Card boys' here, and our Banks' debit cards, such as 'Maestro' and 'Cirrus', are very widely used by purchasers.

    Take care,
    Ham.

The problem with Freedom Kilts' Jackets are they are not listed on the website. I've contacted them about one.
