Kilted Day Out
Scooby and I are currently sitting, kilted, in the foyer of our local library working on his school report on red tailed hawks. Beforehand, we went to the park department's volunteer appreciation bbq; I will post the picture they took of us when I have access to the scanner later.
I was asked about my attire by one of the honorees at the bbq and how we came to attend kilted. After I told her that Scooby had chosen on his own to wear the kilt she told me that her boyfriend had carpooled with an online acquaitance to a recent mountain bike ride; when the truck pulled up on the appointed day, the driver emerged mohawked and kilted.
From here, we will be going home, upgrading our formallity, and heading for the NorCal Rabble kilt night at the Tied House in Mountain View.
A good day,
Bob

Here is a shot of Scooby outside the library with a lovely piece of public art that is of scholastic and personal interest. Third graders at his school help to build a boat like the one in the sculpture and paddle it around the school's pond.

I had an interesting day, myself. My son attended his first karate tournament. I of course went wearing my Colorado tartan kilt. A couple of teenage boys- zits, braces, cracking voice and all- got really excited and wanted to know where to get one. I of course gave them my card and the address to this site. So it seems it was a good day (for the kited at least) all the way around.
And that is a great picture! Is that an X Kilt?

Yes Nighthawk, that is an Xkilt. That is the one of which I am proudest, and Scooby likes it a lot. I didn't realized until I was home that, after the water balloon toss, it was all akimbo. BTW, dad(me) won the water balloon toss and four tickets to the local zoo.
I failed to mention that the bbq was Hawaiian themed, hence the lei.

Awesome pic. I just bought my son his first kilt in our tartan and I can't wait to get him in it...sporran and all. My wife is already thinking of a family picture we could do....
I think if us dads can pass this tradition on to our son's at this early of an age, we could have a nation of kilted lads in 10 years!
