    montrose doublet- how long

So wearers of the montrose doublet, where should the body of the garment end? At the natural waist? Just below? Top of the hip?

Many of the pictures I see on the net seem to be of poorly fitted garments that make it hard to really tell just where the correct fit should be.
    Thanks,
    Joe

In my experience, the Montrose may appear short when worn (or tried on ) other than over a kilt. The natural waist seems about right. I wonder how the new style kilt wearing (on the hips) will affect this.
