Sizing and ebay question
Hello all, I have found a couple of what appear to be good deals on ebay however the sizing is listed in what appears to be womens sizes i.e. size 10 size 16 etc. The seller says they're mens kilts but I cant find a sizing conversion anywhere.
My gut tells me the seller is just misinformed and they are actually womens kilts. What do you folks think

Re: Sizing and ebay question
Hi Paul,
Sounds like a woman's garment to me. What do the pictures look like - which way do the aprons go?
Personally, I would ask a lot more questions of the vendor.
Regards

Ask the vendor lots more questions. Which side is the apron fringe? Here is a link to the ebay size chart but it may not compare mens and womens waist sizes.

Re: Sizing and ebay question
Mens kilts are marked usually in inches waist size. A womans kilt I would also expect to be measured in inches but mens and womens kilts are not usually interchangeable. That is, a ready made kilt is not really a unisex garment because of the different shapes between a man and a woman
A man has a lower waist to hip ratio (around 4 inches difference). A woman has a rounder figure with a smaller waist and larger hips (around 7 to 8 inches difference)
If the size is marked in size 10 or 16 these are womens sizes and might mean this is actually a tartan skirt so you need a lot more information from the seller. Size 16 is around a bust (chest) size 38 inches and a waist size around 30 inches with hips around 38 inches. A man with a 38 inch chest would expect to have an average waist size of 32 inches with hips of 36 inches. These are "ready made" sizes and not everyone fits neatly into these categories but it might give you an idea
I would avoid these items if the seller cannot make the sizes clear to you

Another way I have found to easily tell the difference if the size is listed with the waist, the length is a give away in most cases if it is a womens the length they will show 26,28, or 30 inches where in most cases a mens kilt is not going to be more than a 24.

Re: Sizing and ebay question
I guess I pulled the trigger too fast on asking this question. I did as you folks suggested and looked closer at the pics and the measurments, there appeared to be no pleats and the length appeared to be way too long 28 inches on one of them. I believe these to be tartan skirts thanks for your replys.
