My Experience with Celtic Trading Post

    I ordered this jacket
    http://www.celtictradingpost.com/KJ_4.html
and got an email a couple of hours later saying this price ($175) was a "summer" sale price and the new price was $249. He did offer a refund which I accepted in lieu of him not honoring his advertised price. I thought others should know about this business before making a purchase.

Nice Jacket, I hope you received your refund...I also noticed he hasn't changed the advertised price back to $249.00...That is wrong! Thanks for the heads-up.

Small print at the bottom -

"Celtic Trading Post © is a subsidiary of Skye Highland Outfitters"

From what I can see they are Skye Highland Outfitters.

    Regards

He did refund my money right away but I would have rather he honored his price. I sent him an email with the link to this post but I doubt, after reading about him, that he will care.

As of 9:45 PM EST I am getting a 404 Not Found error for the Celtic Trading Post. They seem to be down.

I find this quite interesting as I have done business with Josh and have had nothing but good experiences. He is also well liked by many others that I know, one being Iain Sherwood who is one of the best vendors in the states.

I am sorry that you feel poorly about your experience but mistakes do happen and your money was refunded. There are other vendors you may try if you wish but I feel it is poor taste to speak ill of a man on a forum where he is not allowed to defend himself.

Celtic Trading Post seems to be some type of consignment web page operated by SHO. Not all the items on CTP are from SHO but the jacket in question appears to be from SHO. Josh certainly should change the price to reflect current pricing or honor the advertised price, so bad on him for that.

My overall take on SHO (from talking to other people) is Josh is a nice guy who at times is disorganized and sometimes does not communicate well. I think he would have a much better rep if he would just keep folks informed of the status of their items. He is capable of producing some nice items and has received some good reviews here but he also has some unhappy customers.

I was not following Xmarks when Josh was banned but I went back and read his last posts which seemed innocuous. My guess is it has something to do with his advertising on Xmarks.

You may wonder why I care about this issue. SHO is only about ten miles from my house and I would really like to support a local business. Sadly his reputation precludes me from doing so at this time. I may purchase some hose from him at some point or perhaps a PV kilt.

Anyway, just thought I would provide a little balance.

I have delt with Josh Brown and own a couple of kilts from SHO bought through ebay. He also directed me to Gabe Everson his kilt maker in Ohio who took my Xmarks PV and made a kilt for me. I would deal with Josh again and have nothing but good to say of his service.

I may be retracting some of what I said earlier. I have been in almost constant contact with him and he seems genuinely concerned about this issue to the point of contacting his supplier in Scotland and seeing if he can broker a deal for me. I will say that he did offer a refund up front and refunded the money right away and is working to make it good.
