    Goodbye, Chrome

I just got one of Jerry's leather Nightstalker sporrans after having seen one on the gent himself a couple of years ago. It's everything fans have claimed for years, and more.

HOWEVER, there was one thing that bothered me—silver zippers and pulls on a brown leather sporran—it just seemed to clash. On the black nylon model it fits right in, but to my eyes, not on brown leather. Call me anal, but up with this I would not put (never thought I'd use that phrase).

So, I snipped off the pulls, took the Dremel to the zipper feet to rough them up a bit, a few dabs of enamel, and some braided leather, and here's the result.

For the cost, the Nightstalker is outstanding. I'm sure most purchasers will be more than satisfied with it right out of the USPS box. I just needed to make it mine. I hope Jerry approves.

Now the next question: what are you using for a strap?

If you mean a sporran belt, it's plain brown leather--no chain. However, I've been thinking a braided leather belt would look great with this.

If instead, you are referring to the zipper pulls, they are three strands of leather flat braided and then folded double over the split rings.

Great looking sporran. I like the modifications you made -- "understated class!!!"

    Great idea!

Weird that the pulls came in silver. Been a few years but my brown leather Nightstalker came with a brown zipper and pulls and the black leather Nightstalker came with black zipper and pulls. Nothing to change back then. Wonder why they'd deviate from matching metal.

Really like the braided pulls. You could probably get a niche market going there. Can think of all sorts of places I'd like to have some.

Looking at Jerry's pix, it appears the black sporrans still come with black zipper feet and pulls, it's just the brown leather that has the added bling of chrome. Probably an availability/cost issue.
