Neokilt (http://neokilt.com/) has a black kilt with a tartan pleat option. The thing I like about them is they look to be constructed more like a traditional kilt than a utility kilt. I don't own one, but would like to.

Check out SportKilt's "Team Kilt" series...

I have one of their Buchanan's...

Edit: Note that there's nothing "traditional" about these kilts. But it is comfortable around the house.

Three-time World Champion Drum Major Jason Paguio often wears one!
Here he is wearing it, in this video. You could ask him where he got his. I would guess that his is extremely high quality, and probably bespoke/custom made.

Jason frequently competes at our northern Ca. games, always a pleasure to watch. The video cites 21st Century Kilts as the kilt maker.

I believe Celtic Warrior Kilts also makes solid color kilts with different designs inside the pleats. Their site is celticwarriorkilts.com

Oh great... Like I don't already have enough to spend my money on... Thanks for that. My wife is gonna be happy, though. Luckily for me, she loves men in kilts.

That guy is talented!! Plus, he rocks a contemporary kilt in a style that doesn't look the least bit out of place and would be perfectly acceptable at Scottish AND Non-Scottish events. Tons of style and he wears it with grace and sophistication. Jason is seriously one snappy dresser and a stand-out drum major.
Well-posted, OC Richard!

Sportkilt makes one, but of course, that's nothing at all "traditional". I've made black kilt with flame-pattern material in the pleats for a good friend who's an athlete. That was a bluidy lot of work.

Jason is a complete joy to watch. He's just plain better than everybody else! And a super-nice guy too.
With his fashion he seems to enjoy pushing the boundaries of what's acceptable in Traditional Highland Dress for Drum Majors.
The night I posted that link, I spent a good 20 minutes watching various videos of Jason on YouTube and there are "wow how does he do that??" moments and laugh out loud moments, like when he's up at Pleasanton performing at the Ceilidh and he's trying to take drinks with one hand while continuing his mace routine with the other.
One of his most impressive tricks is when he's got the mace horizonally spinning in the air above his head and he just flicks one hand up and slaps it. It has a wonderful offhand or spontaneous feel to it (though I'm sure it's well rehearsed) like he's saying to everyone "I have total control over this mace. It does anything I wish it to do. The laws of gravity and physics don't apply."
