Reflections on my one year anniversary
One year ago I decided I was going to don the kilt. A kilted friend gave me two pieces and great advice; buy the kilt from USA Kilts and join X Marks. A year later I have attended five festivals and a Burn's Supper kilted. Met many wonderful people and had a grand time. In addition to that first kilt, I have added a tweed jacket and vest, a BPC and vest, a custom sporran (thanks Donnie) a cromach from ThomasH and many others incidentals. I also managed to get my son kilted and the wife now has a sash and shawl in her family tartan. My first 8 yard kilt is on order (how's that coming Rocky?) and I'm already planning my next purchase.
I would like to thank Mr. Ashton for letting us all hang out in this wonderful place. I would also like to thank everyone who has provided encouragement and advice over the past year, particularly Nathan, Grizzly, ASinclair, Chas, Mikilt, Hawk and may others. I find myself coming here more and more as time passes to find friendship, laughter and some really interesting discussions. Thank you all.

Hi Tomak,
What I have done to encourage you - I have no idea. (I put it down to old age, senile decay and short term memory loss (well medium to long term)).
But I have to say that your first paragraph is the kilting ideal! Making a start; willingness to take advice; doing your research by visiting places; adding to your accessories; and finally spreading the word - and having a great time doing it!
Here's to the next year, and the next and all the nexts

And THAT Chas, is exactly the kind of encouragement I was talking about.

Happy 1 year Xmarks anniversary Tomak! I agree, this really is a wonderful place to hangout. It sounds like you've had a very good first year kilted experience in the 'real' world, as well.

I've been on for about half a year, and I wholeheartedly agree with you Tomak. Awesome forum and some awesome folks.

You know that it's just about a month and a weak to your anniversary?
I do agree though, some awesome folk on here. Even when they sometimes have arguments about facts they don't disagree upon.

Oh, wow. Have I been here that long? The join date doesn't lie, I guess. Mrs. Jones and I sometimes have arguments about things we don't disagree upon.

Upon further reflection Tomak, you failed to mention the positive influence that you have brought to this place in the year that you have been here. An inspiration to one who has been hanging out here for more than 10 years.
