    Highland Dress Accoutrements

    How about these items: http://www.greatwesternauctions.com/...5/lot0650.html

I don't suppose anybody would be interested in 'crowd funding' so that I could buy them?

Sorry but personally I have no interest in that sort of thing.

That suite would be nice to look at in a museum, and perhaps that's where it should end up.

Even if I could afford it I would have no reason to buy it. That stuff would be preposterous to wear, and it would just sit in a box, because I'd have no interest in creating a gaudy display in my house. (Sorry I'm just not a collector/hoarder at heart.)

A thing came up recently on a Highland pipers' forum, about "displaying" one's pipes. To me (and to the vast majority of serious pipers) the very idea is ludicrous. It would be like a plumber displaying one of his wrenches in his home.

Wow. That is some gorgeous stuff. A lot of fine craftsmanship has gone into adorning people who feel themselves noteworthy.

I'm surprised - I thought having seen many of your posts and pictures (and even avatar) on this site that these would be right up your street.

I probably should have included the emoticons to say that my comment about "crowd funding" was meant to be "tongue in cheek"

I, on the other hand, AM a collector and would delight in owning those pieces. Unfortunately they are a bit rich for my budget currently.
