    The addiction continues

    Well, Comrades.

While I have had the opportunity to try on a wool kilt in the past, yesterday was the first time that it actually fit me. As of June, I am new to this kilting experience and own a few used Utilikilts from eBay and two UT Kilts. After yesterday's experience, however, I may be converted to wool tartan kilts instead as I was thoroughly pleased with the one I tried on yesterday. I need to be careful about money but am investigating a 5-yard wool kilt from USA Kilts at the moment. There are several tartans on-sale from their "Irish Tartan" collection as well. I'm currently finishing the very helpful book, SO YOU'RE GOING TO WEAR THE KILT! as well as reading through back-posts on this forum.

It appears to be that I shouldn't be terribly concerned about 13 oz vs 16 oz wool but am continuing to read old posts to determine which weight I should choose.

I welcome suggestions from the community.

    Thank you,
    Jonathan

I have both 16 oz. and 13 oz. I like them both. Sorry I know that doesn't help. I guess the best thing to do is get one of each as time and money allow.

You will not regret it. I love mine in the Celtic Nations tartan.

My biggest decision is which tartan? I've been educating myself and I think it may simply come down to which one appeals to me the most. Which will be the most versatile as this will be my only tartan kilt for a while? Since I'm not Scottish and have no familial Scottish connections, I'm not connected with any Scottish families ... with the exception of my Scottish friends of course.

The "Irish Kilts" on USA Kilts are currently discounted and they may provide a good option. I lived in both Donegal and Galway for a while but have a special connection to Donegal.

    Best,
    Jonathan
