Good afternoon all,
In the past I have posted on the forum a request for some military pattern kilt buckles to replace those missing from an Gordon's kilt I recently purchased form a junk shop in Edinburgh whilst on a weekend break in that fare town.
I received a message from a forum member" Arnot " who very kindly offered to send me two buckles completely free of charge. Very shortly thereafter, as promised, the buckles arrived in the post.
These have now been attached to the kilt, and today was the first outing of my now rejuvenated Gordon's kilt. An 8 mile walk on Exmoor, half of which had the wind cooling the Crown Jewels and I'm happy to report no failures of the new buckles or straps.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Arnot for his very kind donation of the buckles and to the ladies of The leather workshop in Withycombe Somerset, who attached the buckles, replaced the webbing straps and made and attached three new leather straps to my kilt, all for what I think was a very reasonable £18.
