Review of snapsource.com snaps
Ok, got my snaps from snapsource.com and attached a few.
These snaps are the peg-type snaps... heck not sure how to describe them. Ok... UK's use snaps with wide round connectors... here's a pic... the "stud" in this pic is the type UK uses:
UK-Like Snap
Those, the 'stud' is the same size as the snap head.
Snapsource.com snaps are size 24 snap heads/buttons on a size 16 snap base.
The best image I can find is from their site but it's a tiny picture.

So if you care what the underside of the snap looks like... this may be an issue. On the 'pro' type snaps Uk uses, the button has a post which goes through the underside piece and is 'rivited' in place with a tool. Makes it more secure. These snaps are all prongs which bend into the other piece by hammering them together (snapsource has a tool for lining it all up and keeping it together for easy hammering). I will say that it is very firmly attached... I was trying to decide which color snap to use on my kilt, and after I decided I attached the first snap and used the wrong one... oops... I needed to grab the button with vise-grips while I pried the bottom piece off with another pair of pliers.
Snap strength: Excellent. Better than UK even. I tried a test snap on a piece of scrap cloth, and for both shear strength (for the apron pulling apart sideways) and normal pull-apart strength, these snaps actually felt a little stronger than the snaps on my UK original. By no means less strong at any rate.
Look: They look good. I bought one pack of each of the metallic snaps they offered (Brushed Silver, brushed gold, antique brass, ant copper, ant silver, and smoke). The brushed silver is the only one I'm disapointed in. The 'brushed' snaps don't really look brushed. They look scuffed with sandpaper. The brushed gold doesnt look too bad, but I dont see me using the brushed silver snaps. The smoke snaps are fantastic, the look like polished smoked/tinted glass, I'll likely be putting them on my cammo kilt.
Here's 2 pics:

I took those to send to a friend to get an opinion as to which looked best with that fabric. The top snap is antique silver, the bottom left is antique brass, the bottom right is antique copper. So... what's ya'll's opinion? If you were making it which would you have used?
Overall I'm pretty pleased. I'd have liked the large-stud type snaps UK uses, but I'll deal with these, and will likely order more.
