First I must give a big Thank You to Robertson (Pour1Malt) and Emma for the hospitality and good time we experienced in Dumfries. A stay at Ferintosh is truly a must do especially if you enjoy Robert Burns' work.
My wife and I stopped at a place by the river called Tea 4 Two and the women running the place said they were glad to see a man with sense enough to wear a kilt. I was in the olive UK original. Later we stopped by the Burns Monument.
The Tam O'Shanter contest (see the Dumfries Kilt night pics) was great fun. The people at the Globe Inn were so friendly and welcoming. My wife was ready to stay in Dumfries.
Wed was a trip to Caerlaverock Castle. The weather was threatening and it started raining horizontally right after we left the castle. Inside the castle wasn't too windy.
On top of the castle was quite breezy.
We stopped by Anderson's Thurs at Robertson's recommendation. He said they had lots of kilts on the racks ready to go. I was originally looking to just get some kilt hose but ended up getting a kilt. 7 yds, 16oz(I think), 36x43x24 in Ancient Campbell for 195 Pounds. I wore it to supper that night, the pic is a bit fuzzy even with the flash so I'll have to post better pics later.
Unfortunately, all things must end. We left Fri after a final walk around town and a stop at the Globe Inn for a last pint in the Snug Bar.
It was a great week of kilt wearing, good food, good drink, and making new friends. It's going to be hard to go back to wearing pants during the week. Thanks again for the warm reception and the good time.
YMOS,
Tony
