    Tartan Day at the Alamo

Friday the 26th was the Tartan Day at the Alamo. It seemed to be a smaller crowd than last year. It was still a nice ceremony though. They did announce that there would be a memorial donated by Scotland to honor the Scots that fell at the Alamo. Here are a few pics from the evening.

    Very cool

My 1st cousin (6x removed) was Robert B. Moore of the New Orleans Greys, who fought & died there. My Moore's /O'More's were Irish (Co. Antrim), though you go back to the 1500's one of his/my O'More's was born across the water in Glasgow.

We jokingly refer to our Moore's as "Irish-Scots-Irish"

It looks like a good time. If I'm not mistaken, the Viscount is wearing a tie in the Texas Bluebonnet tartan! It is nice of him to honor Texas by wearing it. I'm very found of that tartan and decided that its going to be my next kilt!

That is a good way to remember the Alamo.

The second piper from the left, Robert Chalk, is a member of the Clan MacIntyre Association, and comes around to visit my tent at the San Antonio Games if he is in town.

I can't make out what his kilt looks like, but if it is in a tartan, it would be an interesting mix of tartans. That's such a no-no for some folks here.

The unveiling of the Scottish monument occurred yesterday at a small ceremony within the Alamo chapel with a reception following at the Menger Hotel across the street. My uncle, with whom we usually attend the games, was given an invitation by one of the organizer's of the San Antonio games. He travelled to San Antonio yesterday for the event. I'm looking forward to hearing about the ceremony and reception...
