My New Jacobite Sporran from Harold Cannon

A few months back Harold Cannon showed photos of a Jacobite sporran he had made on this thread: http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...sporran-68263/ This was just the style of sporran I was looking for. I contacted him to see if he would be iterested in making one for sale.

Harold was a pleasure to work with. He kept me updated on the progress of the work including sending photos of how it was coming along. The other day it arrived in the mail. It looks fantastic! Really, the craftsmanship is so much more impressive when you see Harold's work in person than the photos he posted reveal.

This was quite the pleasant addition to my kit. Thanks Harold!

I'm so glad that you are pleased with your new sporran. I will try to post the pictures that you sent me tomorrow. I hope that we may get to see it in action in the future. May it serve you well my friend!

Congratulations on acquiring the sporran Loch Sloy! From Harolds photos of his DIY's he certainly is a talented man. Great to hear his workmanship lives up to the visual integrity. Hope the pics come on line soon

Re: My New Jacobite Sporran from Harold Cannon

Thank you! It is quite fun for me.

I have sent in a request to become a hobbyist on the forum so maybe there will be some more items in the works for the future. I always seem to have extra material left from my projects and I think that would be a good way to do a project a month and whittle my supplies down a little.

Minimal supplies around the house makes the wife happier! LOL!

That is one beautiful sporran -- and the rest of the kit is fantastic as well!!

The dirk looks like one of Vince & Grace Evans' pieces, and the broadsword looks like it could be Vince's work as well. Am I guessing right?

Thanks for your kind words, Dale. You are batting 500. The dirk is indeed a Vince and Grace Evans piece. They are quite the artists!

The basket hilt is a copy of one in the Edinburgh museum that was made for me by ElJay Erickson (aka, E.B. Erickson). The basket is all hand forged and hand finished, just like the original.

ElJay would have been my second guess.
