Tartan is the Cameron Black and Red from the House of Edgar's Old and Rare collection.
Methinks the Regimental Validator offers the Kilt Inspector a wider range of options for doing the kilt check...perhaps allows the job to be well done with "strangers" where a hands on inspection would be a bit forward.
The makers of the device also point out that it allows inspections to be done discreetly....perhaps better worded as "sneaky."
A kilted gent with his back to the inspector might have no indication that an inspection was in progress should she deploy the Regimental Validator from his blind spot.
