Black Oxford Shoes with a Kilt?
I am wondering if these shoes will be adequate for dress shoes with a kilt? I'm not thinking about black tie formal, but everything dressy up to that.
The brand is Nunn Bush, Maddox, and though this is not where I purchased them there seems to be a picture along with the description at this link:
Houser Shoes
Thank you.
* Well... Since they are fine for what I plan to use them for, I might as well give a review.
They do have a nice feeling, smooth finnish that I am told has a good shine to it. They seem to be sized on the small size because I went up a half size from what I usually get. That might just be my preferences, though. They do have an interesting flexability at the ball of the foot that I did not expect, and it does not seem to cause wrinkling of the top of the shoe. I think that is the "Dress-Flex® construction." The shoe does have a good layer of padding in the bottem, and are comfortable.
I'm not a shoe expert, but they seem to be a good quality shoe and fit into my shoe budget. I did look at other lower cost oxfords and I noticed a few things. On most of the lower cost shoes a fake leather area with padding was at the top around the ankle almost like sneakers might have. The Maddox do not have the fake leather part; they don't seem to need that padding and fake part as far as I can tell. They have a better feeling finnish that I was told is shineier and better than the lower cost shoes. In some way, they just feel dressier and constructed better... Hard to explain, but worth the extra cost if it is in the budget.
Just remembered something else, and I'm copying this up here:
They do have a tread on the bottom, but in the front of the shoe, it is all side to side gruves. It does slide sideways if the heel is not touching the floor. I don't even know if that is a bad thing; just something I noticed.
Also, it has been brought up further on in this thread that these are technically blucher shoes, though, advertised and described as oxford style shoes. This seems to be a commen error.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
