On WPG off-the-rack kilts, hip size?
I've been looking at the WPG kilts as an option.
http://onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=1671&bc=no
My question: does anyone here have knowledge of or experience with the size of the HIP difference measurement?
Rocky from USA Kilts has said his off-the-rack casual kilts have a hip measurement 4 inches bigger than the waist.
MY hip measurement is about FIVE inches bigger than my waist measurement.
I DID e-mail Jerry at WPG already and asked him this same question. His response was "I don't know, they are military butt size." (I enjoyed the humorous response!) Alas, I'm past a miltary-butt prime build these days.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

What I wouldn't give to again have a 4 inch difference between my gut and butt, uhhhh.....waist and hip measurements.
Sorry, I can't help with your question, but just wanted to comment. Good luck.

This stuff is designed for us fat American re-enactors. Wear them at natural waist and not bluejean waist and you'll be happy with his kilts.

I got a WPG MacKenzie a couple of years ago and the hips are fine. I am a 46W 52Hip 23 length and got a 44W 23 length and it is great. I have to crank it in to the tightest setting when just covering a shirt and midway when I tuck in a 100 weight fleece. The military cut of the kilt, the weight of the material, and the military box pleats tend to compensate for your (my) big butt. I'd get one if I were you. I'm thinking about picking up a Cameron soon.

Hard to say. The unofficial standard or 'ideal' in menswear (including kilts) has been 6 inches difference between hips and natural waist.

I also have a hip measurement 5 inches bigger than my waist. It really doesnt matter unless you're 7+ to be honest. There's very little difference - even if you're slightly smaller at the hip as well
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I own one of those kilts. The way the pleats are cut on the inside of the waist makes the kilt fit very well on a wide range of sizes. I have a 5 inch difference from my waist & butt. I like the fit very much.
