Dumbarton and District Pipe Band, grade 2, tartan Lennox

There was also a highland dance competition

    ......and a large funfair

With the weather at last warmed up there was a huge turnout of spectators. This is the best view I could obtain of ring 1, where the grade 1 competition was being held, so the only way to get photos of any of the grade 1 bands..................

.............was to capture them on camera as they marched to the arena.
Ballycoan Pipe Band, from Belfast, Northern Ireland, grade 1, tartan Royal Stewart

Robert Wiseman Dairies Vale of Atholl Pipe Band, grade 1, tartan Muted MacNaughton

St. Laurence o'Toole Pipe Band from Dublin, Eire, grade 1, bottle green kilts

Cullybackey Pipe Band from Northern Ireland, grade 1, tartan Ancient MacPherson

Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band, grade 1, tartan Ancient Hunting Fraser
One final instalment to follow shortly.

MaDonald Energy City of Brechin Pipe Band, practice session, tartan City of Brechin

A few minutes later the same band took part in the grade 3A competition

Meanwhile other members of the same band formed a grade 4B band in an adjacent arena,
though the different tartan on some kilts suggests a few members borrowed from another band.

Uddingston Strathclyde Pipe Band, grade 4B, tartan Fraser Muted Red

Unidentified band, anybody ken who they are?

I conclude with a shot of this cute wee drummer laddie.

Thankyou for the fantastic photos and sharing your day with us. I doubt whether many of us would ever be able to get to a competition where there are 100 bands. I would sure like to see the massed bands part of the day (assuming they have one)
Thanks again for the great pics
