Sporran Suggestions
Had my first photographic work selected for a musieum showing this summer. The show will be at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in June. To make my first museum showing even more memorable, thought I would do it up right and attend the exhibit's opening evening kilted. Since it is summer in Florida and events here are more casual, going full Prince Charlie is most definitely overkill. In addition to my Prince Charlie attire, I have dress shirts and a couple of vest I could match up with one of my Mocker Utilikilts and look nice, but decided to try a more traditional option.
Purchased a Saffron Standard Kilt form Stillwater that should be arriving by the weekend. I can coordinate the new kilt with a shirt. vest, and tie, look pretty sharp and make an impression at the opening. I don't own a sporran and up until this point didn't think i would have a need for one since my kilt taste typically trends more modern. I could probably get by with wearing a traditional kilt without a sporran, but I would know the difference and personally regret not doing so. Since this will probably not by my last purchase of a traditional style kilt, looks like adding a sporran to my kilt accessories is a necessity.
Am seeking suggestions as to a good source for a moderately priced sporran and the style I should purchase. Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

My suggestion would be one of the Buzz Kidders offered by USA Kilts and SWK. They're pretty well made, roomy as heck and fit pretty well for very casual to somewhat dressed up situations. There are four or five different models available from them last time I looked. At about sixty bucks, give or take, they're a good deal too.
Here's a pic of me wearing mine. It's probably my most used sporran these days. It works well for any levels of dress that I ever don, and it's the most practical sporran I have!

Reason: Oops...posted the wrong pic the first time.

I can also recommend a Buzz Kidder sporran if you want something modestly priced. I have a Rob Roy model that gets a lot of use.

The Buzz Kidder sporrans are in the second row (Rob Roy and Celtic Knot).

I have yet to read a negative review of a Buzz Kidder, though I don't own one.
If you envision a tartan kilt in your future a brown sporran is a lot more versatile for daywear, but on a Saffron kilt I do think black might be a better choice. And as already shown (Whidbey78, post #2 above), a black daywear sporran works fine on tartan kilts.

I would be happy to loan you any of my sporrans for your event, especially if you are not sure what you might want to invest you hard earned cash in right at this time. A few of mine can be seen in this thread:

I have others too if you would like me to send pictures. yours to borrrow for the cost of getting it to you and back to me----prob about $15US by USPS. That would get you through your short term need and let you take your time deciding what your long term needs will be and let you focus on setting aside the proper amount of cash for that just right purchase.
Always here for a brother kilti.

Thanks for the suggestion and the kind offers.
After looking around a bit more, I purchased a Buz Kidder from SWK this afternoon.
Thanks again.

Good call. It's an excellent "good for darn near anything" sporran. With Jerry's Time-warping Squirrels it should have been at your door in less time than it take Wile E. Coyote to get a pair of rocket skates from Acme.
Which one did you go for?

Ordered the black one with the medallion. Think it is the same you are wearing in the pic.
Know what you mean about the shipping. I ordered it Sunday and expect it to be here tomorrow evening. About a day and a half delivery time on the kilt delivery.
Thanks again for your help.

I find my Buzz Kidder to be a very useful sporran. I really like how the flap magnet work. The bolts above the medallion are my only quibble, but that's not going to stop me from using it.
