Suggestions please
I didn't get any replies to my earlier post so this is simplified.
I want to machine sew new kilts rather than hand sew an entire kilt as I'd done in the past. Can a decent sewing machine be purchased new for under $200? What should I look for?

A used sewing machine can be better than new.
Look for something with metal gears and parts, not nylon or plastic.
Go for torque.
