    A woodland walk

Easter Monday morning and the sun was shining down as we had some breakfast n coffee out our small yard, we decided what we were going to do. We thought about walking the ancient beechwoods just a few miles north of where we are. They are always full of wild garlic and bluebells this time of year.

So we phoned some friends who said they would join us. The mrs went and got ready and I just waited

An hour or so later we started making tracks into the woodlands

The countryside at the edges of the woodlands were rich in colour

We were soon on a country lane heading to the further beechwoods which hold most of the wild garlic and bluebells.

We were in need of some substance by now so took refuge here

We always go in the bar and not the lounge at this pub because its always got local characters in

The view from where we had a couple of reals ales called Butty Bach, large bowl o chips and battered mushrooms. Apparently the beers won a uk brewers award recently. I can highly recomend it.

Once we left the pub a half hour walk and we were walking through the wild garlic

Then the bluebells started to dominate

Again we came out on open ground

After descending some more woodland we arrived at Castell Coch

Then it was back home and I put some wood on the bbq and settled in

    Hope you enjoyed the trip

    Looks like spring has sprung!

I assume the Black Cock Inn doesn't export their beer to Canada, but I'd love to give it a try...

I have blown up the pic of the bar showing the Butty Bach, which is brewed by The Wye Valley Brewery. The other beer there is Handcocks HB which is always a nice pint. There were other guest beers available in the other bar but I cant remember what they were other than Brains SA. The Black Cock itself doesnt brew any beer like some pub micro brewerys.

Thanks for that Derek. I did a quick search of our provincial government's liquor database and it doesn't look they're available here That's ok though because one of my favourite things about traveling is finding local flavours

    Walk

    Greetings Derek,

I always enjoy your photos and posts you put on the site here.

It is so nice to see green fields and flowers as we still have some snow here in parts of Hanna, Alberta, Canada.

Your photos are so inviting it was as if I was there along with you folks.

    Keep up the great posts!

    Robert "V"
