I'm traveling in the Four Corners area for a week or so, and I have a kilt with me that I'm working on for an XMarker. I promised him that I would post a picture of his kilt "under construction" at some swell place out here, so here it is in Monument Valley!

and a bit closer up. Ancient MacRae, in case you're wondering...

Been working on the kilt as we've been driving from place to place. I have a graduate student from Egypt who is working with me this summer, and she's never been to the US before. We're taking a week to show her some of the fabulous Southwest US - we've been to the Grand Canyon North Rim, Monument Valley, and Lake Powell, and we did a fabulous day-long raft trip on the San Juan River yesterday from Bluff to Mexican Hat. Today we're headed up to Silverton, Colorado for a couple of days - she'll get a chance to see some more great geology and also snow for the first time in her life!
