New one in 100% Cotton.

The front.

The back.

The reverse Captain Morgan.
100% cotton, sewn down pleats. As far as the tartan it's technically a fashion tartan, but if you replaced the blue in Royal Stewart with red, this is it.

Looks good! My MacMillan Dress kilt is cotton. A cotton kilt is quite comfortable here in Alabama

Mostly looks good. Though, it looks like the pleats in the back look about like this: //////

Hmm.. Well, my right leg IS 1cm shorter than the left causing my right hip to be that much lower than the left. Could just be wearing it crooked.
EDIT: Nope, sure enough, the pleats are ever so slightly crooked, and my short leg thing just accentuates it.
Thanks for the feedback.

Good on ya. Congratulations on your kilt.
From a kiltmaker, one of the factors that is causing your pleats to hang ////// is the way you sewed the pleats in the Fell.
If you will look at the Fell area you can see that the horizontal lines of the Tartan do not line up. They give a sort of stair step look.
If you take a lot of care insuring when you sew that the lines of the Tartan are perfectly aligned it will allow the pleats to hang a bit straighter.
Also, with your large thighs it may help the pleats to lay smoother in the front and sides if your apron were a bit wider. On a Traditional kilt the apron is about 1/2 of the waist.
All and all a good kilt. Congratulations.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

Where did you find the material? When I have found fashion tartan material like that I am concerned it will be too light weight to make a kilt.

Joann fabrics, out of their platitudes collection. It's a little light, but nowhere near as light as their flannel selection. You have to be careful with them, they just see "plaid" and stack it all together sometimes.

FYI, you may have better luck in their larger stores, like JoAnn Etc. I bought some there that was on sale cheap that I intend to use for practice on my first attempt making a kilt from TAoK, (have been rather busy with other things going on that I haven't even had a chance to take it out of it's shrink-wrap, though), and I know what I bought will be a little light weight. Next time I drive north from work, I might stop at the big one in Taylor. The ones in Toledo, Oregon, or Maumee are all smaller, and each has a different selection.
