    Windowpane tweed Braemar jacket

My latest eBay acquisition is a lovely vintage windowpane tweed jacket in shades of tan with dark brown overchecks. This one is in the Braemar style, I believe, due to the panels on the sleeves.

The sleeves are just a smidge longer than I'd like, but I think they'll work out OK. They really can't be shortened without moving the sleeve panels, and those can't be moved without disrupting the pattern (the maker seemed to be very meticulous about making the overchecks line up on the pockets and sleeve panels). At any rate, I think it's a great fit otherwise. I picked it up for about 26 quid. Not bad, eh?

Whilst I'm wearing it with my Colquhoun Ancient kilt, I think it will be a better match for my Colquhoun Weathered kilt which is currently "in the queue" and causing me increasingly significant Jonesing pangs. The brown hues will go well with weathered (or "reproduction") blue and green hues.

I believe that particular tweed is Cairngorm Heath Coffee, or something similar. I am having trouble deciding between it and the similar Evergreen Coffee for my next jacket/waistcoat combo purchase. Yours looks lovely, and you definitely got a great deal. Congrats.

Great find again Tobus, fantastic look with the real staghorn buttons. I think it looks great with the kilt in the picture. I think brown jackets with blue/green toned kilts work just as well as those with weathered toned kilts. Congratulations, looking really smart

Congratulations on the "new" jacket, you wear it well, I am sure it will look great with the weathered tartan but it looks just as good with the kilt you have on. I wear my brown jacket with my Graham of Manteith regularly and think they work well together.

I agree with Mickey- nice looking, great deal.

If the sleeves drive you crazy, you might ponder a way to shorten that panel a little bit. Try turning it under a half inch or so and see what it looks and feels like. You can always abandon the panels entirely if the sleeves are uncomfortably long.
