    MacMillan Hunting to the stripe?????

I wanted to see if anyone had any pictures of MacMillan Hunting Tartan pleated up to the stripe. I am getting ready to have my new kilt done up and wanted to see the different options.

Wow...I think that's brighter than my U.S. Army Kilt that is pleated to the yellow stripe!

Pleated to the stripe is just too busy for my tired old eyes.

    Harold,
you may consider pleating with the red stripe on the outer edge of pleat , leaving hunter
green showing.... then the reveal would glimpse the yellow.... Patti

    Harold,

If I remember, your yardage is in the Ancient color scheme. The greenish-yellow stripes of this color scheme would be much more subdued against the pastel blue and green of the Locharron colors. Just something to think about...

With the modern colors, though, I'd pleat to one of the wider red stripes.

Of course, if one had a very, very large sett you could pleat to alternating yellow and red..

*** (especially the "tired old eyes" part)

I have often considered pleating to the stripe, but I find pleating to the sett more pleasing to the eye. Nevertheless, I am glad that you posted this question as it has given me the opportunity to examine my choice.

My Dress MacMillan is to the sett so I wanted something a little different. I am used to pleating to the stripe from my days of being in the bagpipe band.

All my kilts are pleated to the sett except for my band kilt and my Weathered Hunting MacKintosh. John @ Keltoi sent photos of all the options. The sett was too much of the red stripe which is dominant in the kilt to begin with. Pleated to the red stripe was ghastly to say the least. The most pleasing was to the yellow stripe. I chose that and very happy I did.
