Greetings from currently Utah
Life can be kind of funny in the way interests and events can bring things in full circle. Ever since I was in my teens I wanted to wear kilts, but my problem up until now was that I didn't belong to any kilt wearing clans. I didn't want to embarrass myself and just wear any kilt I could get my hands on. The internet wasn't around to learn something different.
So, now I am just a jeans and t-shirt kind of guy. Every once in awhile I would see a man wearing a kilt and I would admire the kilt from afar. As a matter of fact a few months ago while traveling I saw a young man wearing a plain looking kilt that I thought was really cool looking, but I thought it odd it didn't look like a traditional tartan. I was in a rush and didn't give it much though after that.
So......back to the whole full circle thing, which has to do with my kids and kids will be kids. My oldest daughter (8) decided to play dress up with her younger brothers and put her dresses on her brothers. My boys thought it was fun (6 & 3) and where laughing and giggling about it and wanted to wear them in public. My Wife the extremely smart and talented woman that she is had an idea and quickly did some research; which, brought her to this site and she learned to make kilts and made two kilts (camo) for our boys. They proudly wear their kilts and strut their stuff in public.
This got me reading about about kilts and non-traditional kilts. I have now ordered myself a couple non-traditional kilts and looking forward to wearing a kilt for the first time.
Looking forward to reading and sharing posts in the future.

Welcome, Charlie. Sounds like you'll be a great addition to the great rabble.
Studies have shown that women who gain a few pounds live longer than men who mention it.

Greetings, Charlie! I am also new to this site, but have been wearing a kilt for about 15 years. In addition to the non-traditionals out there, you can also find a tartan for your interests (military affiliation, some colleges, some jobs such as police and firefighter), or a "generic" one such as Black Watch. You don't need to be a member of a clan.
Enjoy your kilted time, and I'd love to see pics of you and your boys in their camo kilts!
