    Diced hose colour options

    Hey everyone,

I'm wanting to buy a pair of diced hose to wear to formal evening events with a Prince Charlie jacket and grey seal skin sporran. My kilt is a Logan in ancient colours (photo attached). I'm leaning towards the red and black, but green and black or claret and navy are also options.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

All of the ones you show look good to me. Up to you, of course, but try to stay away from 'matchy-matchy' and go for what really turns your crank.

I think the claret and navy is enough of a blend without being a distraction from the softer colors of the kilt. The red and black seem too bright and would distract (my eyes tell me). I would keep the upper part of my attire in soft tones with the exception of a tie or kerchief (based on the sporran and jacket you suggest).

    First - Great looking kilt!

Second - IMO the Red and Navy and Green and Black look the best and I like the idea of working in flashes/ties in Yellow or Red with either

I'm in sync with Thistledown. I have several diced hose variations.

not diced, but Hunting Scot tartan hoses is the best choice for You, I suppose.

I have two diced and one Argyle.

My Argyle are coloured to match my Hunting Sinclair. I've now come to think they're more than a little over-the-top so I rarely wear them.

I also have a red/green diced coloured to my Sinclair modern which are useful since they don't have a high contrast and are therefore muted and can be worn with slightly less than very formal occasions, and a pair of fabulous black and white which I only wear on very, very formal occasions.

The diced and Argyle are more of a hobby collection than practical, but I love having them and wearing them on appropriate occasions. Most of the time I wear my dark green or bison jacquard knit hose or my claret from Steve. I wear those on a lot of fairly formal events too. Very little else. Diced are pretty close to the top if not over it.

You may also want to consider the chessboard pattern from House of Cheviot. They are fabulous stuff less costly and will set off your formal dress outfit with appropriate style whilst being flexible to wear less formally

I like the look of diced and Argyle hose but to me they are a bit too "Dressy" for the daywear attire that I wear........even with my charcoal grey tweed that is about as close to "very formal dress" that I have. I think unless they were quite dark they would look a bit too fancy

Yeah. I'm talking about at least a black barathea Argyle or else my Sheriffmuir. Otherwise, one colour.
