The end of an era
September 29th will be my last day of work, after nine years there and 14 years of cooking full time I'm "retiring".
I'm going to go back to school in January and do something else with my life. I have reached the point that I am experiencing total burnout as a cook. I need to move on in a completely different direction.
I am also moving away from New Mexico back to Oregon, for me New Mexico is not the place to be at this time in my life.
At one point i was considering going overseas and living but I would have to cook and that is not an option.
I will accept donations of single malt scotch to ease the culture shock of moving

Best of luck to you. I would certainly like to get away from New Mexico myself. I don't forsee it any time very soon though.

If you come by Eugene, you can collect that dram in person! We wouldn't want you to be off-kilter  .

Congrats, Rob! A major career change is always a bit frightening, but most often it works out for the best. I know I'm alot happier now that I've changed careers.
Good luck!

That's a little discouraging in light of the fact that I am considering buying 160 acres just outside of Roswell! Maybe I should reconsider?

All the best Rob, it's not easy changing direction in such a way. I pray all works out well for you.

Good luck Rob,
Yes Oregon and New Mexico even though both are beautiful are extremely different. Yet I like them both.
I was trying to get down to see you on one of my trips to Silver City, but somehow never could get it arranged.
My cousin went to school in Eugene, and even though I have no relatives hanging out there anymore, do have some friends I may find that I need to go visit.
Congratulations on your retirement and good luck in your new life.

Glen (and any other X-Marker),
If you make it to Eugene, Pamela and I would love to show you around the area. It's not far to many hikes in the area and I know a few places with a good selection of whisky. . We also have a few events that show off the local color - the Oregon Country Fair in early July, the Eugene Celebration in early September and the world famous Oregon Bach Festival in June/July.
