    The end of an era

September 29th will be my last day of work, after nine years there and 14 years of cooking full time I'm "retiring".

I'm going to go back to school in January and do something else with my life. I have reached the point that I am experiencing total burnout as a cook. I need to move on in a completely different direction.

I am also moving away from New Mexico back to Oregon, for me New Mexico is not the place to be at this time in my life.

At one point i was considering going overseas and living but I would have to cook and that is not an option.

I will accept donations of single malt scotch to ease the culture shock of moving

    Rob

Best of luck to you. I would certainly like to get away from New Mexico myself. I don't forsee it any time very soon though.

If you come by Eugene, you can collect that dram in person! We wouldn't want you to be off-kilter  .

Congrats, Rob! A major career change is always a bit frightening, but most often it works out for the best. I know I'm alot happier now that I've changed careers.
    Good luck!

Hang in there, Rob. I was just 'gut-punched' with one of life's little surprises myself, so I know how you might be feeling.

As for the dram, I would gladly buy you one, so long as I don't have to help you pack up for the move.

    Best of luck to you!

I kinda know how you feel... 17 years in engineering and I'm looking for a change. The engineering world has changed so drasticly in the last couple of years that it's no fun anymore..
