Is this good or bad .. your thoughts please
The wife and myself teach music as well as play in our 'folk' band. We work from home. The day before yesterday I had a new pupil starting. All though they don't live that far away, the weather was terrible so his mother run him up in the car. They have obviously never met me or certainly seen me in my Cilt. When I opened the door and asked them in we said hello to each other and she immediately then said,'What a lovely Cilt you have there... They are becoming very popular and fashionable these days .. It looks lovely'. We then went on to music matters.
I can't make my mind up if it would be for the better or worse if Cilts/Kilts really do start to get that popular and fashionable. Whats your thoughts.

I would be quite happy if kilts become more popular.
I would not be happy at all if they become "trendy". I don't follow trends.

I'd be glad if Kilts became popular. If they become trendy you'll be able to tell the posers from the true blues though!

If kilts became more popular, it would only be more evidence of how Gaelic culture has impacted the world.

When--not if-- kilts grow in populrity it will be a sure sign that men are regaining their sanity.

Good thing I think.
The only change kilts becoming trendy will bring is less hassles for us.

Al, you are a leader, not a follower!!!
Derek, I too have mixed feelings about this. I am very happy to be 'different' and a non-conformist which places me in the 'let's keep kilts exclusive' camp. However, I also feel so sorry for all those poor unfortunates out there who are still suffering trouser tyranny, that I want to educate, convert and bring them all into my world. That would mean kilts becoming mainstream!
Maybe I'll just keep quiet - or is it too late for that?!!!

Ham, even your silence speaks volumes, so when you come out with a philosophy statement like that,,,yes, I think it's much to late to keep quiet! Very well said.

I personally don't care if it gets popular. Although I don't want to see the decline of quality because of it. I don't want to buy kilt that is going to fall apart within a few washes.

Kilts will always be fashionable, even when they aren't the current fashion.
