National Tartan Day
National Tartan Day (April 6) falls on a Friday this year. I have persuaded the Scottish Heritage Society of Eastern North Carolina to hold their first ever Kilt night that evening in New Bern. I will post the details nearer the time.
But the thought struck me - how many other Kilt nights could we organize across the USA for that evening? And for that matter elsewhere in the world?
THAT'S MY CHALLENGE TO THE OTHER X-MARKERS OUT THERE!

Sounds great. I don't think I'll be able to drive across the state for your event, but I bet we could get something together here in the western mountains.

OK, kilt night in Atlanta area on Friday, April 6.
And if someone doesn't sing out quickly, I'll be setting it up myself in conyers and arranging for some cletic music that night!
And I think we'll call the other groups while we're making simultaneous merry, so everyone should list their evenings here so we can get a list. We'll sing some bawdy song to you over the phone.

Sounds like a plan Jim. Count me in.

Hey, count me in. One of my new kilts should be in town by then!
"A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve, is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life." That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

We are lucky here in NY. With all the festivities (although they are move back a wekk because of Easter) it feels like kilts are common garb for at least a few days any way.

Our St Andrew's Society will have a celebration for Tartan Day, I don't have all of the details on the event yet.

It is only the parade that has been pushed back to the 14th, the other activities are from March 31- April 8th.
