    it IS spring!!!

Despite the fact that there is still snow piled in places and not a sight of green... I got up this morning and looked out the back window. There were about thirty wild turkeys on the field doing the strutting thing...which was cool but to top it, I saw a pair of Sandhill cranes dancing in the same field! Now that is a sight out of pre-history somewhere. Tall, ungainly, silly looking animals. Dancing and bobbing in a courtship that is LOTS older than mankind is. Rather put things in perspective for me.
AND, there is a St, Pats day get together in our little town!

The cycle starts anew folks. Celebrate with me.

PS. now that I think of it, the Sandhills looked a lot like me when I was about 20!

Yes, spring's here and the days are getting longer. We had a fall of snow overnight, but the sun has already thawed most of it. The flags will soon be going up on the High Street for the summer season - blue and yellow ones which are the town's colours until mid June, when they get changed over for international flags. Next weekend is our first local festival of the Scottish tourist season - Hawick Reivers Festival (which in America you would call a Ren-faire); then its Common Riding season with a series of horseback rideouts every Tuesday and Saturday, to exercise the horses in preparation for the riding of the marches at the beginning of June, when our local Highland Games also take place; after that there is the Summer Festival, then finally the Jazz Festival in September so the local hotels and guest houses should be busy all summer.

Yeah, it turned out really cool here as well. Temps in the high 70's and low 80's up until the weekend when it dropped into the forties. AHHH... T-shirt weather for me!

It was 68 degrees F and sunny here yesterday so I fired up the old Beemer. I took a quick ride into the hinterlands with a healthy dose of twisties. Definately the most fun you can have with your p**ts on.
