Usually or always over the shirt.
-
The shirt hangs over the top most of the time.
-
Sometimes one, sometimes the other.
-
I'm not sure...

How does your kilted wasitline work?
After a negative reaction from a relative over wearing a kilt, I starting paying more attention to how people (are depicted) wearing them. Probably not surprisingly to long-time kilt-wearers, wearing it over your shirt seems to be the standard. I think my mistake the first time I wore my MacGregor sportkilt was to leave the t-shirt on the outside...
Thus I'm expecting this poll to be biased but I gotta ask anyway. Just how do you wear it at your wasitline?
Wade.

Haven't had the chance to actually put it into practise yet, but here's the theory:
Shirt always in, sweaters always out (or, if not out, than in with a good amount folded over).

It depends on how casual I want to dress, even when wearing a t-shirt, although with my button down shirts it's almost always shirt in, they're generally too long to be worn outside the waistline.

I've only been at this for a month or so, which means I know less than nothing at this point, but that's what seems most natural to me. I do, however, have a couple of "military" style sweaters that want to be tucked in.

Ok as far as I see it Shirts Always in
Sweaters in or out depending on the weight of the sweater
I often wear a mock neck sweater tucked in, I just like the way it looks, and really its not that thick, however if Iwere wearing an aryan sweater I would leave it out.

Can I assume you meant an "Aran" sweater, and not one favored by white supremacists?
As for the original question, I'll give the same answer I give whenever it comes up: Tuck in your shirt. Don't be a slob.

When wearing a casual kilt, it depends on what type of shirt I'm wearing. T-shirts get tucked in, jerseys or sweatshirts hang out. When wearing a more traditional kilt, ALWAYS tucked in.

Don't like to have my shirt tail out. Tuck it in whenever I wear clothes.
Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

I should mention that for most of my life, I was taught that shirts were tucked in (to trousers). It's only in the last year or so that I've become comfortable having an untucked shirt, since for some modes of dress, this is fashionable.
Then I discovered kilts...

Uhh,,,how would you tuck it in if you're not wearing clothes? I always tuck my shirt tails in too, but only when I'm wearing clothes.
