Las Vegas X-Marks meet 'n' greet
Just got back from the Tilted Kilt pub at the Rio Hotel. Had a pretty good time with everyone who showed up. Karen and I stayed late and met up with IEScot & mbhandy who arrived a bit later.
Here's the better of the two pics taken tonight:

Left to right:
Heather (Tilted Kilt waitress)
Al G. Sporrano (wipe that silly grin off your face )
Karen (Al's wife)
Will (prattw)
Mike (Will's friend from the local St. Andrews Society)
John (Will's friend from the local St. Andrews Society)
Suzanne (Will's wife)
Millie (Rob's wife)
Irishrob
More pics to follow on Sunday after the games tomorrow.

That is one of the limited run "Sporranos" shirts that Hank created a few years ago. There's a better shot of it on the kilt page of my website.

Oh, now I finally get your username. Sporranos, that's funny!

What a rabble! Bet you tilted their kilts for sure!
Hope some of you get to make Nine Irish Gentlemen at NY, NY.
Did you raid the Tiled Kilt goodies store...?
Wearing my Tilted Kilt Las Vegas leather jacket today in honor of the gathering...hope its not snowing up there too.

Al,
So what is the story of "The Sporranos"? I have looked at David (Freelander Sporrano), Sten (Sten Sporrano), and your moniker and wondered about the connection.
Cheers

The story apparently stems from an online chat session between a few of the members, whose names escape me now. From what I remember, they were discussing the TV show "The Sopranos" and someone misspelled it "Sporranos". The name stuck around.
Perhaps one of the original participants could chime in to confirm this.

A few years ago, Rufus, Freelander and myslef were in the chat room (long gone now) and Freelander started talking about the new season of the Sporranos that he had been watching. This was about the same time Freelander sporrans was starting up, so Rufus and I got a huge laugh at David's expense and immediately change dour names to Rufus Sporrano and Colin Sporrano without explaination to the rest of the forum.
To our suprise others were curious and followed suit by adding Sporrano to their names. Rufus, Todd, and others decided to remove the name after a few weeks and hoped that people would leave the Sporrano name for David and Sten Rune with this fledgling business, but the name has stuck for a few members that were around at that time.
Hank was still working on shirts at that time, so he made a limited run of Sporrano shirts.
An inside joke gone array
Great pics Al. I looks like a fun trip.

Thanks for chiming in, Colin! I thought you had been involved but I couldn't recall the whole story.
I actually tried to change my name back but it was too late. Perhaps I should talk to Mike1 and see if I can do it. I wouldn't mind changing it to Mr. Kilt to match the vanity plate on my Durango.
