Meet the Joneses: Thread for those awaiting the X Marks Tartan
I thought that perhaps all those who are part of the current order of the X Marks the Scot tartan might like to have a place to write about it. This is a place to discuss why you ordered it, what you intend to do with it, and of course...How much you are jonesing for it!
Cheers

That is funny Panache! I am one of those in on the order but at the moment I plan on just sitting on it. Maybe after the summer is over, I will have Kathy Lare sew it into a tank. But for the moment, nothing else. I have enough of jones going on for a MacKinnon 1843, a MacKinnon hunting, and an Isle of Skye box pleat. That is enough for one sitting!

That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it." anon

I've ordered 4 meters to be turned into a military box pleat kilt, and fly plaid by way2fractious. The remainder will become flashes and a sash (for the Lovely F-H.C.A.G.) This is going to be my nicest, dressiest kilt.
I had been planning on ordering enough for a box pleat when my bride said no, she wanted lots of pleats and a heavy swing. She fell in love with the military box pleats just like me.
I know it's going to be 6 weeks before the fabric is even made. Longer still to get it to w2f. Longer still until it is made into a kilt.
I'm jonesing!
But I'm happy
Cheers

I had to sit out on this order. Maybe when it's all said and done someone will have enough left for a box pleat to sell me. Too many other things going on at the current moment. Oh well.

Don't know if anyone needs this help, but just in case. I've accumulated pictures of the finished X Marks the Scott tartan kilts by various kiltmakers.
So far have pics of the work of Way2fractious, Rocky (USA Kilts), Matt Newsome, Geoffrey (Tailor), Pat at House of Tartans, Steve Ashton (Freedom Kilts), Barb Tewksbury, and Kathy Lare.
Happy to share if you're still at the stage of considering which kiltmaker to sew it up for you. Just email me.

Once it is all said and done I will have enough for 3 X Marks box pleat kilts.
-half of 4 yard stretch from last run (14 oz)
-yardage from this one (16 oz-> WHY I ordered)
--I WILL make a box pleat out of this one and want no seam (so have long enough stretch.
(If someone wants half of this one or the 14 oz, I might could work out a deal of cost to me of 14 oz or half my final cost to get to me of 16 oz, plus shipping to you).
Now, for the rest of my fabric . . .
vest?, sewn hose (can't recall correct name right now)?, flashes?, driving cap? scarf? other ideas?

I'm in on this order too! Unfortunately I'm gonna have to wait until I accumulate more funds to have it made into a kilt.
Why did I order it? Well, some of you may remember me posting about whether I should even have a tartan kilt awhile back. Most of your responses were very positive. So the way I figure it, If I'm prolly only gonna have one tartan kilt in my lifetime it might as well be xmarks.
