Thumbs down Stillwater Kilts Nylon Cargo Sporran

Monday I ordered a SWK Nylon Cargo Sporran. I was impressed with the timeliness of the ship notice. I was downhill from there.

Your humble poster had called Jerry Saturday and inquired about the aforementioned nylon sporran. This xmarker was instructed to send an email with nylon sporran in the subject to be notified of availability none being available atm.

With blinding haste an email was recieved informing this seeker of nylon sporrans that some had been found in the wrong bin. I placed an order. It arrived today.

Upon opening the box it was apparent that someone with lesser vision than Stevie Wonder had done the Q.C. This puppy was an outrage.

They say you only get one chance to make a first impression. This cat blew it. Jerry did offer a full refund and return postage. And a lame excuse about "the wrong bin" ... funny familiar that line seems.

Speaking of which, the "Shipping and Handling" was nearly double the return postage. I don't know what kind of "Handling" I was supposed to get, but it wasn't worth the price.

If my man did look at this piece before shipping, shame on him. That makes him a bad cat.

If he didn't look at it, shame on him. That makes him a bad cat.

The other day I posted in a thread by ALan H. defending kiltmakers and the cost of kilts. Alan was right. Most kiltmakers are not out to rip anybody off. They charge a very fair price for their efforts.

SWK is not a kiltmaker. Jerry takes swag from third world sweatshops and sells it for a nice profit. Apparently with no regard for the quality of the product or the feelings of his customers.

You might think I am doing too much whining. After all the guy did offer to refund and return ship. After all, life is too short to waste time with scrub outfits and standing in line at the post office. Not to mention the time I have wasted on this transaction.

Liike Daniel Day Lewis said in his character "Bill the Butcher" in "Gangs of New York" :

"SWK is dead and outlawed, let no one speak their name" ( or words to that effect) This kilted man won't.

I hate to end a post on a negative note. Yesterday I got a small order from USA Kilts. I wasn't expecting much for the price I spent on hose and a t-shirt. The order and service exceeded my expectations.

The merch was was advertised. The service was prompt.

Who do you think gets my next order?

Wow! What a bummer! I've never had any problem with SWK , prompt delivery, great quality & service. I already have two of their kilts and awaiting a Thrifty Kilt I ordered Monday. Maybe their Sporrran Dept. needs fixing. Things can sometimes go awry in the best of companies.

well no one can deny that you got a clinker.
Aren't you being a little extreme in your outrage?
I have purchased from Jerry on numerous occasions and my experience been exactly the opposite of yours.

Perhaps I am. But then again I get really really happy when I get good stuff.

I don't think it is a department Cousin. This kilted man has worked as a picker at one or two fulfillment centers of the Roanoke Valley in Virginia.

There is incumbent a responsibility on the person who picks and packs the order to ensure that the merchandise is up to snuff. This Sporran was so bad that a mildly retarded fellow who works next door and wears coke bottle glasses looked at it from five feet and through a fence and asked me what happened to it with no prompting.

Simply a case of pushing swag out the door. Most people won't bother to return crap merch. Some companies will ship it no matter what. I hope my experience was a lapse and not a general tendency.

I have only purchased once from SWK, but had a wonderful transaction. I know you got a bad product but that happens with all companys from time to time.

This is the first bad review I have read about a Stillwater Nightstalker sporran.

I gather from the pictures that the sides of the sporran are not equal depth, which is a much better description of the problem than:

" ...someone with lesser vision than Stevie Wonder had done the Q.C. This puppy was an outrage"

Though it sounds that in all aspects of this transaction Jerry has offered you a high level of customer service. Mistakes happen. It's a fact of life. I believe the real test of a company's customer service is how they respond when something isn't perfect.

There are many small little moments of imperfection in life. Moments spent at the post office or in line at a Customer Service Desk in a store returning something that wasn't right are among them. It's one of those things that you just have to accept happens every now and then. Is it irritating? Yes. But it happens to everyone.

I'm sorry this didn't work out for you. I hope that when the next mistake happens you are a tad more forgiving. I imagine maybe even mistakes happen at USA Kilts.

I have had numerous dealings with Stillwater and highly recommend them for their product, their value, and above all their Customer Service.

    Respectfully

    Jamie

Well Jerry certainly seems to have enough defenders here to warrant a second chance.

Apologies to his fans if I have offended them. This dog throws bags o. concrete and other assorted gear for four hours (after taxes) to make such a purchase.

I will try to take a lighter view. Quite honestly this man has been lucky with online purchases. This is the first time since I got a styrofoam "PDA protector" ten years ago......

Thanks for the feedback gang. You told me what I needed to know.

Just to keep everyone informed, the general climate created in the OP has brought this thread more than a fair share of staff attention.

It is a product review. Perldog007 has had his say and we will see if Jerry at SWK wants to respond.

    As a reminder -
