Well, it finally arrived and today was the break in. My CCK Maple Leaf 5 yarder is a thing of beauty. The fit and finish are just right. Although I had not asked about it, I was pleased to get only two buckles, left and right. I prefer the feel and look. The belt loops are big enough to easily accomodate my 3 inch belt. And the flashes are very nice.

I am surprised at the feel of the material when worn. It is somewhat like a cotton blend but feels a bit more substantial. This is my first pv kilt but it won't be my last. I had it on for about 4 hours and it was very comfy.

Other than the wait which was beyond Pete's control, I will say that I am VERY satisfied with the whole experience of dealing with CCK and will enthusiastically endorse Pete and his products.

Yea, yea, I know the pics.........................................

    Mikey,

Welcome to Clan Maple Leaf! The pictures are fabulous. I like the look of the maple leaf with the grey hose so much I am going to pick up a pair myself. Black accessories also look particularly sharp (I wore my browns the other day for Canada Day and I didn't think they looked as good).

    Congrats on the new acquisition!

That is such a beautiful tartan I think its going on my wish list as a hand sewn wool kilt since three generations of my family were Canadian before we came south.

That is nice. Mine should ship this week (since I so graciously gave my spot up so Grant could try something different in his attempt to attract kilt checks) and I can't wait for it to get there. Gonna try this one out with ALL black accessories. I've never worn a lot of black but am finding through pics here I like the idea.

The Tartan is so striking that it works with both black or brown accessories, I will try to post pictures later with brown so you can see the difference.

    Guys,

Here's a side-by-side comparison of the maple leaf in brown and black accessories. As I said above, I think the black looks slightly better. I think it may have something to do with the fact that the tartan is heavy with earth tones already, and so brown gets lost in it. Conversely, it may be that it is the kind of tartan that just looks better with semi-formal accessories. I'd be interested in your opinions, and maybe someone with more color-theory than I have can ramify the question.

    Best,

    Cirthalion
