I always had fun at the NC Ren Faire. It's run by the same company that does the Arizona faire. Unfortunately, I'm unlikely to be back east this year.

The only tartan day we ever hear about this side of the pond is the one in New York. It's great to hear about all these other ones and I bet they are more fun too. Have a great day.

You know, the funny thing is... when I was living in NYC, I never heard of Tartan Day.

Here's something you might find interesting, it's a qoute from Wikipedia.
"Outside of New York City, one of the largest Tartan Day celebrations in the United States takes place each year on the weekend closest to April 6 on the banks of the Missouri river in St. Charles, Mo. The Missouri Tartan Day Festival began in April of 2000, after successful lobbying at the State Capital in Jefferson City, members of the St. Andrew and Celtic Societies of St. Louis, Kansas City, Jefferson City and Springfield, MO, gathered on the steps of the State Capitol Bldg. in Jefferson City to receive the first proclamation of Tartan Day in Missouri. This was for the year 2000 only.
In 2001 we were successful in having Governor Holden proclaim that April 6, 2001 and every April 6 thereafter to be Tartan Day in Missouri."

Actually, the fair ScottishRebel is talking about is the one that takes place at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. The one put on by the folks from Arizona is later in the year and is held closer to Charlotte.
They are both worth going to.

Rats, I wish they'd done that when I was there. I lived walking distance from the state fair grounds (in fact, I walked to the state fair on more than one occasion).
Anyway, I still won't be back east this year. No room in the budget. Alas.
