Argh, K in K! My wife and I are tentatively planning on going for either Celtic Dreams weekend (Oct. 7/8) or Pirate Weekend (September 23/24)! Would have loved to meet up with other Ohio kilties...
It's a pretty good festival. You run into a lot of the folks who don't realize it's a rennaissance festival and wear all sorts of bizarre fantasy stuff and the like. But the overall fun factor of it is good. You'll have a good time. Eat a turkey leg for me!

It's a nice festival, but I can't see spending two days there - though that's just me. I had not planned on attending this weekend. Since it runs through October 22, I thought I might go later. "Celtic Dreams" weekend is October 7 and 8.

At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Sorry, my youngest son is piping at the Great Trails Festival in Malvern, near Canton, every day this weekend and on Labor Day.
It's his first outing with the Akron & District Pipe Band, so we are, of course, very proud of our 12 yr old piper.
He makes it look so easy!

And you should be proud! Good on you and him both. Best of luck. Let us know when they are playing again, would love to see them.

Wish I would have seen this earlier.
I am working at the Ren Festival as a vendor. Perhaps you stopped and looked around the booth. It was 'Timeless Links' , a chaimaille arts booth, right beside a large food booth near the front of the faire. I saw lots of folks wearing kilts Saturday and Sunday, and with every one I saw, I thought back to the comments and advice I read on here.
I even wore mine after closing for some relaxation time. (I have other garb to wear during open hours) It felt great to wear it and not have one single comment about it. At faire, it is just as common as jeans it seems.
If you make it to faire, stop by the booth and say Hello. I'm known as Rygar there, or Eric.
