    large hose

This will probably sound silly to some of the old timers, but do kilt hose come in a larger size? I have very large calves and have a hard time finding any kind of socks to fit over them and since I have been wearing my kilt more frequently I thought about getting some hose but don't honestly know alot about them. BTW my calves are 18 1/2 inches around if anyone cares.

Yes we have talked about this before (I have 19" calves) There are large hose available. Matt at the Scottish Tartan Museum may still have some. Check here.

There are also several good hose sources like: here. and here.

You can do a search of the posts for hose, and find many other sources.

We are glad to help you out. Go to our hose page, here:
    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/hose.htm

You'll notice that our popular Lewis kilt hose are also available in a "fully fashioned' variety that will accomodate larger calves. By and large these are custom ordered and so will take a while to deliver, but we do like to keep a few colors and sizes available in the shop for those who need them in a hurry, so call or email to ask what might be on the shelf right now.

Also, we do have a few of our standard kilt hose made to fit a wide calf available still at the special price I advertised a while ago here on X Marks. Here is the direct link:
    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/...time_offer.htm

Take advantage of these while the stock lasts!

Of course, you'll note that we also offer hand knit hose, as well, which are completely made to measure so will accomodate any size calf.

And as for garters, we have our traditional garter ties available in extra long sizes (no elastic cutting off your circulation!)
    http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/garters.html

We have the four colors listed on the site, but we just got in some more stock this week and as soon as I can get around to it (hopefully today), I'll be adding to that color list. I'll post here on X Marks when I do because I know several were asking for more colors of the XL garters.

    Aye,
    Matt

Check out this thread on this very subject.

It's not a silly question at all and has been asked many times on Xmarks. Search through the threads and you'll find many on this very subject. I have ordered from almostunwearoutable.com and those are great kilt hose. I also have a pair of the fully fashioned on order from the Scottish Tartans Museum.
