Kiltmaker: Highland Inspirations???

Greetings everyone. I stumbled across this online merchant and noticed they had some unique plaids available that i hadn't ever seen before. some of them look pretty cool. Has anyone ever bought a tartan from this merchant??? If so, what were your thoughts? Check out the site and let me know what you think.

It would appear that the tartans are exclusive to this company. Fashion tartans? They are also in Australia, shipping might be killer.

A lot of fashion tartans but other than that it looks like they sell the same type of kilts as Jerry at Stillwater. They just charge a lot more.

They are selling Acrylic Kilts, personally I really do not think I would deal with them as they seem to be the same type that Stillwater has just at a higher price point. Did you notice how much they wanted for a bovine and rabbit fur sporran? They look like they are only out to make a quick buck if you ask me.

They do look really pricey for the product that you'd be getting. I saw a couple on ebay for around 80 dollars, but that's still about twice the price SWK. I like a few of their tartans, but I don't think I like them enough to pay what they're asking. Plus like ccga3359 said the shipping would be killer too.

Their “Mackenzie” tartan doesn’t look right to me. It’s closest to what the Clan Mackenzie Society calls “Old” but it looks to be missing some black on blue fine lines.

And they say: ” The MacKenzie Tartan is a universal tartan and can be worn by all.”
I never heard that before.

Well technically every tartan can be worn by all. But what they are probably referring to is the huge number of clans that are associated with the Mackenzies. There was a thread in the past (I'm too tired to find it right now) that had probably about 50 different families that are connected to the MacKenzie's in one way or another. It has pretty much become a universal tartan. I actually am about 50% MacKenzie for real. My grandmother's maiden name was MacKenzie. I do acknowledge that the MacKenzie tartan has become far more widespread than most others.
