    Recent inspirations

There can be no doubt that lovers of celtic music find inspiration in such music that compliments the outward expression of celtic clothing (kilts).

Here are some of my inspirations from today:

    Moya Brennan/ davey Spillane
    Lunasa
    Altan
    Niamh Parsons
    Karen Matheson
    the Tannahill Weavers
    Filska

To name a few, I recommend them all!

Now HERE'S a post that I can relate to! Nicely done Graham!

Davey Spillane (to me) is a genius with all the talent of the world! Not only does he have the talent to play the instruments, but he has the talent to make sounds that are unreal! NOBODY can "draw" a note like this guy... and on numerous instruments.

Bill Jones (female) with the voice that IS Celtic. Haven't heard her yet? If you can get the CD "Two Year Winter", you won't be sorry.

Seamus Kennedy for Celtic humor, traditional favorites and attitude. This guy is a one-man wrecking ball everytime he gets on-stage. Talent that you'll remember forever, and the personality that makes you want to adopt him as your Grandfather.

Overall, I love it when you can get the haunting drawn sounds. Add in the occasional Uilleann pipe as a background and I'm there!

I agree Jimmy, I love the Highland Pipes, but nothing comes near the Uilleann pipes.
Liam O'Flynn is another favourite piper, I bought one of his albums recently "Out to an other side".

What with buying music and kilts - I'll alway be poor (but rich).

Graham, I know of the groups... as we've performed with them recently.

Wicked Tinkers: a group of guys out of California that play the pipes, drums and all the traditional Scottich instruments. NOTHING is modern, and everything is LOUD! I have all four CDs, but it just doesn't compare to their live energy!

Seven Nations: their older CDs are far superior to the recent ones. They've gone "pop" on us, unfortunately. Their instrumental talents are undeniable.

Here are two more that you can look into for this style of music"

Gaelic Storm. Their newest CD is rather modern, but they're still one of my favorites.

Natalie MacMaster. A fiddling gift from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I listen to her CDs constantly!

INCIDENTALLY: you can request virtually ALL these groups on the CelticRadio.net site... along with Barleyjuice.

    No problem buddy.

    http://www.celticradio.net

Once there, hit the "listen" button to get going. After awhile, you'll figure-out how to do the "requests".

I listen to this station while I'm doing work at home, or browsing around XMarksTheScot!!! It makes the atmosphere even better (if that's possible).
