    My trip to Dublin

I spent the bank holiday weekend in Dublin. Here are some highlights.

The Temple Bar. Never go there. It was terrible.

The gates of heaven? I think so.

The complete Midleton collection. Worth €15,000 ($22,000).

Trinity College. I got to see the Book of Kells!

Just hangin' with my friend Oscar Wilde.

    The Proclamation of the Republic.

    Michael Collins' uniform and pistol.

Irish military kilt! It was preety.

Orange tartan with wide, brown stripes surrounding thin red lines. Matt, identification?

Traditional Irish leine. (This is why we wear saffron kilts. It's historical).

It appears to be a uniform from the Irish Regiment of Canada -- they are the only Irish Regiment to wear a tartan:

I know these are modern uniforms, but look at the tartan.

It certainly looks very similar -- the badge on the caubeen also looks like their badge:

I note that Guinness must have heard that you were on the way and took appropriate precautions...

That tarttan is really nice...for a second there, I thought that the lighting made it look orange and was going to ask about the colors. Looks rather like another tartan to go on the wish list for a lot of Xmarksers.

Great pics, Greg. Sorry to hear the Temple Bar didn't live up to expectations. Looks like you missed a golden opportunity to go kilted around Dublin.
