    $999 bottle of Whisky

    Alright, WalkerK posted this in the Pub, but since I don't hang there (can't even remember my password) I am re-posting it here. This the two of us at a whisky tasting sponsored by Bowmore, and Jackson's Liquors of Lafayette, CA. The empty bottle of 37-year old whisky I'm holding really does sell for a cool grand, and I am pleased to report that I had seconds.

    here's some of the others we sampled --10 in all:

    The food and beverages were first class, but alas we were the only kilties.

    One funny moment came right after we walked into the upscale restaurant where the tasting was held. A very attractive hostess approached WalkerK and asked if she could ask him a question. He replied in the affirmative, and I leaned in to hear (secretly jealous that she was choosing to ask him "the question" instead of me - - Hmm, I guess that's how Grant always feels.) Anyway, it turned out she wanted to know what was sticking out of his hose (A stag-handled sgian dhu). He told her, and she said that's what she thought, but apparently other theories has been thrown out by her coworkers, such as a scroll?.

    Anyway, good times.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    I see you're sporting a very nice version of the famed "Pink Panache". But the shirt seems to be a bit dark to truly co-ordinate.

    If you're referring to Kent's complexion, then I must protest that he is not as rosie-cheeked as the photo would suggest. (And neither is my Hunting MacPherson kilt, . . . not that there would be anything wrong with it if it was.)

    Lets see $999 for 1 bottle of whisky;
    $99 for 10 bottles of whisky
    $50 for 20 bottles of whisky
    $25 for 40 bottles of whisky

    Is it really 40 times better then a $25 bottle of whisky and after the third drink can you tell? Or do you go biblical and bring the $999 bottle for the first round, $99 for the second, $50 for the third, $25 for the fourth and $5.99 for the rest?

    Hey, no argument from me. If I was going to spend that kind of money on a bottle of whisky, it would have to be able to perform certain acts not suitable for discussion in a family forum (and not just once.)

    That said, I've never heard the process set forth above described as "going biblical" although its one I practiced on a much smaller scale during my university years. (Imported beer and a shot of bourbon for the first round, crap for the remainder of the night. int

    Best regards,

    Read the feast of Canaan where Jesus changed the water to wine. The host is asked why he has brought out the best wine for late in the party. The practice was the best wines were brought out early in the feast. As the guests began to feel the effects the lower quality wines were brought to the table.
