Neokilt
Helloo everyone,
I've been lurking here for a while, so I figured I'd post about my kilt, particularly since there's been only a single Neokilt thread in all of these forums, and one where noone owned one (I find that strange since they seem to be fairly out there).
Anyway, to the kilt (I apologize in advance for my lack of means to acquire pictures just yet, which I realize are valuable in threads about people's new kilts):
I got the khaki kilt in the original design, and I love it. It's designed basically like a traditional kilt, but made with different material and with less exacting measurements (he required a waist, hip and length measurement only). It's got one inch pleats for plenty of swish, and a reversed pleat. It has three straps and buckles (one on the left and two on the right) and closes nicely around my true waist. I particularly value the side slash pockets hidden between the pleats for lack of sporranage, and I love the 3-inch-wide belt I bought with it.
Everything is sturdy; the stitching is tight and professional, everything lines up nicely, the material seems fairly rugged (like Dickies material but rougher), and the straps and buckles are quality (leather and steel).
It did take four months to make, during which I lost nigh on an inch or two, so I use the last holes on the straps already, but that's my fault for taking up Tae Bo in September. Apparently there was a line of orders, and you do pay a price for quality, so I'm not buggered. I'm only worried about it not fitting in the near future. Josh seems to be a nice guy, and he was very cooperative and helpful with my inquiries, so I may ask him for some advice if I do indeed continue shedding fat.
Unfortunately it is also Colorado December with 5 inches of snow on the ground right now, which probably won't go away for months. Fortunately, though, (or unfortunately, you decide), I'm working the school spring musical, which happens to be Brigadoon *shudder*, so I'll have the opportunity to work the show with it.
That's about it, besides the fact that I've some hose, red flashes and a day sporran on the way from USA Kilts (who should be seeing an order for a Thompson Grey tartan semi-trad sometime in the next few months) for a semi-formal Christmas party I was asked to wear it to.
How come there isn't much mention of Neokilt around here? The product is nice, and Josh is very flexible with customization and provides quality customer service...

The Neokilt seems like quite a nice kilt; unfortunately, as my signature suggests, it is out of my budget. Actually, all kilts are out of my budget for now; I'm waiting for the overflow from the money my parents will give me for tuition for next semester ;)

Welcome to the forum, Cat. I own a NeoKilt. It was (I think) the first transitional contemporary kilt I purchased after the Utilikilts. There is much about it I don't like, but for that I blame my own inexperience, and so I never wear it. I'm glad you are happy with yours.
Regards,
Rex in Cincinnati.
At any moment you must be prepared to give up who you are today for who you could become tomorrow.

Welcome aboard TCITK!
Josh really is a great guy and used to advertise here. As I understand it, there were some philisophical differences regarding some of the forum rules, so he is no longer an active poster. As far as I know it was an amicable split. I think he still looks in here from time to time.
He is much more active over at The Brotherhood of the Kilt.
