Military Box Pleate Canvas Kilt?
Is this doable or possible?
I keep thinking about a canvas kilt (kind of like a Buzz Kiddemade from bluejean-like materiel that is pleated in a military box pleat type of way. In my mind, I'm seeing each pleat turned back on it's self to cover half the exposed part of the knife pleat. It would also be nice to have the turned back part sown in with a double row of complimentary colored stiches kind of like the seams on bluejeans.

I think it's possible. When I've made kilts out of canvas, they've always worked well...whether doing knife or box pleats. And I'm liking your idea.

The regular box pleat in canvas sounds interesting to me too, but this thing has been driving me crazy when I look at my BK canvas. I just keep thinking the double row stiching on the seams and pockets of jeans would look good at the end of a turned back pleat. Thanks for thinking about it.

Also, turning back the pleat to only cover half the exposed pleat might give the visual effect of doubling the pleats, and also give a three D effect to the pleating. Kind of wish I could plug this computer into my brain and show you, te he.

Can you make a sketch? Like looing from the bottom of the pleats.

Let me see... a sketch looking at it from the bottum.

Like that. Each equal sighn is where the pleat is folded back on itself. The underline is the line of pleating which would be like a regular knife pleat. Hope that kind of works for a sketch, but I have know way of knowing if that looks like anything at all, see my user profile and my(Never mind, I just changed my signature and got rid of all the stuff about being blind) signature.

Ok, if the bottum pic is of a military box pleat, then move the turned back part back so that it only covers half of the exposed part of the knife pleat part. I might be happy with a military box pleat in canvas, but that's not exactly what I'm seeing in my mind.

I'm sorry ChattanCat, I'm blind, so there's no way for me to look at what you're trying to show me right now.
